A Spiritually Starving Society and The Antidote of Egypt

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

I am finishing this off as I return from Egypt, it was something I started to write on the plane but as soon as the first day began I was so swept up in how much presence Egypt requires from those who travel there, that I wasn’t able to finish it. In part, I am sure this is because pieces of Egypt I hadn’t yet paid attention to wanted to be woven into this piece.

This takes me back to one evening in Luxor, as all the tourists filtered out of the Temple of Man it was only myself and the group I was with left in the large open courtyard. A few solo wanderers were dotted about between the pillars but mostly we had the place to ourselves. I found a bench to meditate on and closed my eyes. I could hear the hum of busy, modern Egyptian life outside the temple but this soon began to fade and I was taken into the Egypt which exists underneath the layer we see today. Wave after wave began to wash over me of remembering, love and grief all intertwined. After some time I opened my eyes to look at the columns that had withstood time, so strong and stable reaching up towards the deep indigo night sky.

It was not the first time that I was seeing into another reality that previously existed in the physical, through eyes that have become well adjusted to seeing through the layer of mist that modern conditionings have placed in front of them. Beyond this mist is where the outlines of truth start to come into vision. I was once more looking at the structures of a civilisation which knew their place in the universe, who’s creations in form were a sacred interaction with higher realms of spirit and lives were lived in celebration with the intelligence of great cosmic wonders.

Egypt was deeply spiritually connected, all of its understandings, architectural structures, artwork and ritual were in harmonious existence with the intelligence of the universe. They left behind the remnants of this knowledge for us to uncover. Yet despite hundreds of thousands flocking to these sacred sites, very few know how to see the truth of what is there. It takes an imagination, a mind that isn’t afraid to look over the parameters that our modern world has put around it and a discerning, open heart. Only then are we able to really start entering into Egypt and everything that it embodied and stood for whilst alive on Earth.

“Do you not know, Asclepius, that Egypt is an image of heaven or, to be more precise, that everything governed and moved in heaven came down to Egypt and was transferred there? If truth were told, our land is the temple of the whole world.” The Hermetica. It is a frequency to awaken within ourselves, the temples may be old and dusty but Egypt can live again through each of us that connect to these truths.

To remember lifetimes there, is to remember this dance of form and formlessness. Where individuals would drink from the well of Spirit, fill themselves from within and touch the light of divinity which is held in the recesses of every heart. Spirituality was a crucial element of life and those living in dedication to the temples, to the unseen and the deeper workings of the cosmos were important pieces of this civilisation in bridging the realms and upholding the sacredness of all that is. When we realise this, it illuminates to us just how dysfunctional and devoid of spirit our society is.

I have come to understand that almost every ailment we currently experience on Earth, physical, mental and emotional stems from the root cause that we spiritually starving as a society. The system has been constructed in such a way as to keep us constantly looking outside of ourselves and life circumstances make it far more difficult to go within and develop our inner connections. Ultimately the denial of spirit is a denial of who we are at our very core, deeply spiritual beings. Without this connection we will only ever be experiencing half of ourselves.  Those in power continuously destabilise our root chakra, keeping us in a state of fear, lack of safety and stability wherever possible. Through scenarios they create on the global stage, war, economic depressions, perceived global threats (such as what we saw in 2020) and the way the “news” constantly reports on everything traumatic is an attempt to keep us stuck in this negative feedback loop. If our root does not feel safe it is very difficult to move into the higher levels of consciousness or the upper chakras. We find ourselves in a situation of control, where we are taught what to think and too many brilliant individuals have become cogs in a machine, feeding consumerism and never truly reaching into their own depths to discover the unique life which exists with them. Our true sense of self is developed through turning within and this is the only way we will truly be able to discern truth and become free from these control mechanisms, remain open, expansive and live a life of fullness.

We have been taught that we are the most advanced civilisation to walk this planet. The linear evolution from ape to cave man, to our modern day human is a lie. At the very least it leaves out the advanced civilisations that have walked before us and far excelled far beyond the boundaries we know today.  Modern societies distorted focus on the physical upholds “science” as the highest truth and in a way this has become a form of religion, a state of mind or lens we are all expected to adopt if we are to be given any credibility in thinking. All that cannot be measured through parameters man put in place for a scientific evaluation is written out of existence or given very little weight in the “real” world. Perhaps one day man will catch up with nature through these methods, yet I highly doubt it will be in my life time. The power truly lies with the individual, to go within and start to re-experience themselves as a spiritual being having a physical experience. Each of us holds within us a myriad of specific frequencies waiting to be brought online to flow through into this realm. I can guarantee this will not happen through looking out and mentally existing within the system they have set up for us.

If we look to the Egyptian mythology and know the story of Isis and Osiris we can understand that as a society we are currently Osiris trapped inside the coffin, trapped in form. Seemingly cut off from Spirit. However, Isis has been roaming the lands seeking him. Our inner feminine principle has been searching for our masculine, outer expression. She has found him and she is piecing him back together, raising him from the dead. Our way out is to cultivate this within ourselves, to develop a connection to our internal feminine principle and allow her to guide us into wholeness. Once wholeness is known a new consciousness is born, Horus, the Spiritual Warrior. This lays out an alchemical process that is available to every single person. The myths live within us, they are our blueprints, our patterns for living. We hold each of these archetypes (otherwise known as the Gods/Goddesses) inside ourselves.

We do not need to travel to Egypt to know its within ourselves, it is available to every one of us to connect with from wherever we choose to meditate, an altar, a corner of your room, this does not matter. There is no more time to remain trapped in the external, we have to earnestly turn within, discover the parts of ourselves we have been denying and begin to bridge the physical and the spiritual. This is the only way we will start to heal and live in the fullness which is each one of our birthrights.
